Pastor Tim's message this Sunday is titled.....

Mark 1:14-20; Psalm 62:6-12; Jonah 3:1-5, 10; and 1 Corinthians 7:29-31

Tim Irwin

Peter and Andrew, and James and John were fishermen. When Jesus called them to follow him, he tasked them to be fishers of men. I LOVE fishing. Er... I love the idea of fishing. I love remembering fishing with my dad when I was a kid. I love reminiscing about taking my boys fishing in some of those favorite fishing holes I shared with my dad. I love watching fishing shows on TV. But, to tell the truth, I have no earthly desire to actually go fishing; I mean, paying for a lice...nse, buying the tackle, trudging down to the river or lake, baiting the hook, cleaning the fish, and leaving the boat with a 3-day sore back. Nope, nope, nope, nope! I love the idea of fishing. Jesus didn't ask his disciples to fall in love with the romance of being fishers of men; he called them to actually do it. When it comes to loving our neighbors, it's a lot easier to love the idea of loving our neighbors than it is to actually love our neighbors - but this isn't theology divorced from practice - it's what we've been called to do with our lives. Join the people who are Aloha Church of God this Sunday (1/21 at 10:15) for "Loving Our Neighbors Is Not a Theoretical Exercise." We'll save a seat for you.
